Students practice formulating questions, iterating, experimenting, collaborating, and reflecting through visiting designer lectures, studio visits, field trips, and hands-on workshops. They explore what is meaningful in design today, different ways of being a designer, and the relationship between design and place, with a focus on the Bay Area. Recommended in the first year for Communication Design majors, but may be taken at any point. Open to all students regardless of major or level.
