Fashion Design 2 continues to introduce students to the conceptual, creative and technical processes of designing and creating cohesive capsule collections of garments, while also cultivating a deeper understanding of what their authentic identities and impacts are as designers, both individually and collectively. Through the development of weekly assignments the design briefs of this course will require, students will continue to become familiar with industry product development, while strengthening their approach to the skills that successfully contributing to it will require.

Hello Fashion Juniors!!!
No Week 1 class due to the MLK Monday holiday!
This semester, we only meet for 14 weeks instead of 15 weeks.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this section of Fashion Illustration 3, students build critical compositional
and tactile skills to present concepts, figurative, and technical digital flat
work with compelling and distinctive points of view. Instructional emphasis
will be on building a tactile portfolio from work developed in Fashion Design
1-3, and presenting ongoing work in compelling and unique formats. This is
particularly important as students explore concepts in sustainability studios
that fall outside traditional fashion parameters and expectations.

Building a digital website is also an outcome of this section of the class.

At the end of this course, students will have a tactile portfolio and website to
use for professional interviews and will have acquired making skills to
support the Fashion Illustration 4: Visual Communication for Portfolio, Senior level
                                      Portfolio class.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
This course is required for Fashion Illustration 4: Visual Communication for
Portfolio Senior-level Portfolio class.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Senior-level Fashion majors who have successfully completed the prerequisite drawing, design, and studio courses are qualified for participation in "Fashion Illustration 4: Visual Communication for Portfolio".

The tactile fashion portfolio consists of a professional-level series of fashion projects accompanied by figure illustrations and technical digital flats (and/or 3D CAD drawings). Additionally, communication forms consistent with specific projects (pattern layouts for zero-waste projects) will be developed to reflect the student's individuality.

The portfolio consists of an emotional landing page and a series of at least three projects which must include a senior thesis and output which touches on a secondary field of interest (illustration, textile development).
The aggregate output is expected to manifest the student's design aesthetic - complemented by a resonant illustration style and a demonstrated aptitude for creating technical digital flats.

Secondary projects (textile development, tailoring sew samples, industrial design, shoe design,
bio-fabrication mechanical knitwear, etc.) will be drawn from previous work (competitions, fashion design, and/or elective classes) and will be expected to be specific to the individual student.

The resulting tactile portfolios and websites are a requirement for participation in the Senior Thesis Review at the end of the Fall Semester.

These portfolios will continue to be refined as the student develops her/his Senior Thesis during the following Spring Semester. Tactile portfolios are a key element in the Spring Senior Thesis Jury process.

By the conclusion of this class, the students are confident in a newly acquired conceptual and manual skill set that will be crucial in the preparation of the exhibition and interview-ready portfolios and websites.
