This course is going to teach you the first level of classical character animation as taught to me by western and eastern animation masters --  The studies and lessons teach the tricks and skills for putting smooth, flowing motion into objects, 2d effects and characters.  After you show those foundations, we can advance to getting a more of a performance, or creating animation that tells a story.

2d Animation has a beauty, tangible quality and a mystique that is all it's own., from Miyazake masterworks to Love, Death & Robots, to Steven Universe, it's all about making drawings appear to come to life before their eyes!

The first "Level" to this skillset is to make a figure or an object believably move itself around in the frame, and perform actions that convince you to follow them in a story.

So, get ready for lots of drawing. But remember, you can create great animated scenes with a plain stick figure as well as objects, liquids, fish and finally, 2-Legged Characters.

You will also have to do research and Observation of works from great animators. But mostly it's all about making animation every week, and learning by doing it.

So how do you learn to make drawings "act"? Well, before you can get to actual character acting, we need to recap the basics of motion, and make sure you can get the body mechanics working, and use gravity and weight in your animation creation using simple objects.

I'll walk us through this next part in Class 1!:
