This class covers fundamental formal and conceptual principals of the moving image. Introductory skills in editing, filming and animating will be taught in conjunction with a critical and theoretical foundation of video art. Field trips and guest artists will give students the opportunity to see contemporary film arts as they are realized in a variety of platforms including installation, documentary, and internet-based projects. Critical analysis of these forms will be explored through a series of student productions and research presentations throughout the semester.
