Course Description
Let's hit the ground running!
This class will educate students about the animation production process, with specific attention given
to preparation for both their Junior Review as well as their Senior Project. This class will build on the
animation skills learned in previous classes and demonstrate how they are integrated in a production
pipeline. The project will focus on producing a polished short animated piece of about 10 seconds.
Students are encouraged to form groups and produce a more elaborate (or somewhat longer)
animated short.
Topics covered in the class will include:
• Idea development
• Story and character development
• Visual storytelling
• Visual development
• Production planning
• Animation production skills (including basics of sound)
• Critiquing others’ work in class, using feedback to improve our work
