Course Description: This studio class introduces students to the basic skills of industrial sewing machines, hand and machine sewing techniques, and garment construction. The course will include instructor demonstrations and guided studio time. Students will complete samples of garment/accessory components and four projects and a notebook utilizing techniques learned.
Course Learning Outcomes: The primary objective is for students to develop sewing skills needed to make finished sewn accessories/garments. Additional objectives include industry terminology, student development of confidence and skills in construction techniques that show good craftsmanship in the use of sewing equipment, fabric, and related supplies.
