Remembrance in Place — Course Description
This summer course invites students to participate in the completion of the mural and garden projects developed in partnership with the Association of Ramaytush Ohlone. Through public art, land tending, and collaborative learning, students engage with the questions:
How do we remember on land that holds histories of displacement and resilience?
What does it mean to create in relationship with Indigenous protocol and presence?
Students will contribute directly to mural painting, garden installation, and site stewardship, while engaging in critical dialogue around settler colonialism, ecology, cultural survival, and creative resistance. This is a space for hands-on work, deep listening, and place-based responsibility. No prior art or gardening experience is needed—just an authentic commitment to community and care.This course honors Ramaytush Ohlone leadership, and invites students to step into creative relationship with land, memory, and repair
