Through the process of making  wheel-thrown objects, students of ALL abilities, (Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced), will join together in the pursuit of expanding their knowledge in foundational ceramic studio practices. Each student will work toward individual and shared objectives designed to deepen and broaden their own creative development. In addition to skill acquisition, (How), we will discuss What we make, and Why we make it. We will interrogate concepts of ‘Quality’ and ‘Beauty’ through the lens of contemporary and historical pottery.  Learning will be scaffolded with timely Lectures, Demonstrations, and Assignments.  We begin with Craft, then Design principles, and finally, Artistic practices. This course is structured for Maximum studio work time; this is a necessarily energetic, hands-on course, where students learn by doing.
