Interactive storytelling is the art and design of creating participatory story experiences. These experiences are shaped not only by what the creator wants to communicate, but by what the player does, chooses, discovers, and feels.

Throughout this course, we will explore how narrative works when the audience becomes an active participant. We will examine traditional storytelling, character, worldbuilding, narrative structure, player agency, mechanics, systems, space, and time- and consider how each can become a tool for interactive storytelling.

We will move beyond the idea that games simply contain stories and explore how interaction itself can become a storytelling medium.
